Care of HIQE Outdoor Barefoot Shoes

Outdoor shoes are often subjected to high demands during active hiking. In addition, there is moisture from rain or wet surfaces as well as strong UV exposure. With the right care, your HIQE will accompany you for a long time and look almost as good as new even after many tours.
Our HIQE barefoot shoes with mesh content
Most of our HIQE models consist of a combination of leather and mesh fabric or vegan material and mesh fabric. It is immediately clear to everyone that leather needs care. However, the other materials are just as important to ensure long-lasting enjoyment of your barefoot shoes. With proper cleaning and care, you prevent cracks or brittle spots.
Cleaning and care of the mesh fabric
Light dirt can be easily removed with a soft brush. But how do you deal with stubborn stains that can't be brushed away easily?
It's simple, use a special cleaner that not only makes your barefoot shoes sparkling clean but also cares for the mesh fabric. We advise against using household cleaners or dish soap because they can make the material brittle.
For cleaning and care of the mesh fabric, we recommend the following product from Collonil:

If you use this care foam regularly, you will preserve the elasticity of the mesh fabric and prevent cracks in the material.
The application is quick and easy: shake the can, spray foam onto a cloth, work into the fabric while simultaneously removing stains. Then let the care soak in and dry. Done!
Impregnation of the mesh fabric
Our HIQEs are equipped with a waterproof inner membrane, but you should also treat them from the outside to repel water. This protects the upper material so that you can use your barefoot shoes intensively for your next outdoor adventure.
With the impregnation, your HIQEs are not only protected from penetrating moisture, but they are also dirt-repellent. This means that it is enough to quickly wipe over your barefoot shoes in case of dirt to get them sparkling clean again.

Cleaning and caring for our vegan HIQEs is child's play because the products and steps mentioned above can be applied to the entire barefoot shoe.
Properly clean and care for leather areas
Most of our HIQE models consist of a mix of mesh fabric and leather. Depending on the model, it is either smooth nappa leather or velvety suede. You care for the leather separately according to these instructions:
Additionally, we have the following three models in the shop that are made entirely of leather. The instructions for leather care naturally apply to these as well. Since these HIQEs do not have a mesh component, you can skip the care instructions mentioned above.
